[News] Enterprise Supports Burnt Tree Acquisition with £20m investment in new HGVS

20 October 2014

Following the acquisition of Burnt Tree by Enterprise Rent-A-Car earlier this year, the Shrewsbury-based company has recently benefited from a further multi-million pound investment into its award-winning refrigerental temperature-controlled rental business.

A £20m investment in new vehicles sees the phased introduction of the first Euro VI models into the national Refrigerental rental and contract hire fleet at 7.5, 12, 15, 18 and 26 tonnes GVW.

Such has been the success of Refrigerental that Burnt Tree has not only had to purchase additional vehicles to meet current demand, but it has also introduced additional refrigerated trucks in new categories at 12 and 15 tonnes.

As Danny Glynn, managing director of Enterprise Flex-E-Rent / Burnt Tree said: “When Burnt Tree first launched Refrigerental there was tremendous interest in its move into temperature-controlled vehicle rental. This interest was soon translated into regular ongoing business, not just from existing customers, but also from a significant number of new customers to Burnt Tree, including several major blue chip organisations.”

The Burnt Tree Refrigerental fleet now provides a comprehensive range of vehicle types and models covering both Euro V and Euro VI variants, that enables customers to benefit from the optimum choice of vehicles for the majority of temperature-controlled applications from chill to heavy chill and deep frozen.

With an overall £40m truck investment programme so far, Burnt Tree Refrigerental now has a comprehensive national temperature-controlled rental fleet portfolio that covers weight ranges from car derived vans right up to 26 tonne multi-compartment, multi-temperature rigids.
“In a short period of time, Burnt Tree has created a sizeable new business operating through its 21-strong branch network. With the backing of the world’s largest vehicle rental company in Enterprise, we will continue with the planned expansion of the Burnt Tree fleet well into 2015 and beyond,” added Glynn.

Enterprise bought Burnt Tree in August this year. It then voluntarily referred the acquisition to the Competition and Markets Authority, who subsequently ratified the agreement in October.

Full details about Refrigerental, Burnt Tree’s dedicated temperature-controlled vehicle rental operation, can be viewed on its website www.refrigerental.co.uk from which visitors to the site can obtain a comprehensive vehicle selection guide that outlines the complete range of vehicles available.
